ICalmNET Digital Signage Solution Transforms French Restaurant

Project outline and Details

A newly Designed and renovated restaurant in a busy tourist location wanted to offer their customers something different. The brief was to design and implement a totally bespoke interactive solution which would be positioned on the inside of a 2 inch thick double glazed glass window. The customers would interact with the screens from the outside.

The system was to be set up in a way as to allow a customer choose their language, and from there browse through a multi paged menu system. The pages included L’esprit Parisien’s full menus; breakfast lunch, snacks and dinner, along with full drinks and wine menu.

A customer can select an upcoming events page which provides them with information about upcoming events in the restaurant such as Jazz bands or valentines day, thus encouraging them to book early!

They can select a special promotions page designed to inform about special offers on drinks and food etc, or a dish of the day page which will tell them about the dish of the day, the details and the price.

Customers can also select a page that displays live world news in their language and local Paris weather, all taken as live feeds through iCalm’s rss software.

The End User Requirements

The staff at the restaurant who update the day to day items on the screens such as menu prices, menu items and Dish of the Day etc would be classed as non expert users. Therefore the iCalmNET web based content management system was the perfect choice by virtue of the fact that it offers a flexible and easy to use system.

They needed an easy way to manage and control over 100 screen pages divided up into multiple sections, covering
five different languages.

L’esprit Parisien opted for our hosted web server solution as they did not have the IT resources to host their own server. This solution benefits them in many ways as they are able to avail of all the elements and features of the iCalmNET software solution while also receiving full support and having software and firmware updates carried out by the iCalm technical team. This hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) model is ideal in this situation as it removes the technical element from an environment that is not set up for it.
